ABOUT RICKY
As is the sad case of many of our younger generation, Ricky, driven by peer pressure in his teenage years made a misguided decision to try drugs. He says he was curious, and at that age, we all feel invincible. This is a life decision that Ricky take full responsibility for and sincerely regrets.
The trajectory of Ricky's life took a devastating twist in April 2005, when aged just 21, following deeply flawed legal proceedings, he was convicted of a non-violent, first offence drug crime.
I'll say that again :
A Non-Violent
First Offence
Drug Crime
Aged 20
RICKY RECEIVED A CUSTODIAL SENTENCE OF 47 YEARS IN A FEDERAL PRISON FOLLOWED BY 12 YEARS PAROLE AGAINST SENTENCING GUIDELINES.
This is not fair, this is not justice, this is a waste of a life.
We have to help Ricky and ultimately thousands like him.
FIX THIS BROKEN SYSTEM.
