ABOUT ME
This is Ricky Federmann
Ricky's Story
As is the sad case of many of our younger generation, Ricky, driven by peer pressure in his teenage years made to misguided decision to try drugs. He says he was curious, and at that age, we all feel invincible. This is a life decision that Ricky takes full responsibility for and sincerely regrets.
Ricky is an amazing individual - he has gained 6 straight A-grade degrees and spends his time teaching other inmates to better themselves, some passing their GED from Ricky's direct teaching.
The trajectory of Ricky's life took a devastating twist in April 2005, when aged just 21, following deeply flawed legal proceedings, he was convicted of a non-violent, first offence drug crime, committed aged 20.
I'll say that again :
A Non-Violent
First Offence
Drug Crime
Aged 20
RICKY RECEIVED A CUSTODIAL SENTENCE OF 47 YEARS IN A FEDERAL PRISON FOLLOWED BY 12 YEARS PAROLE KNOWINGLY ACKNOWLEDGED IN THE SENTENCING RULING TRANSCRIPT TO BE CONTRARY TO GUIDELINES
This is not fair, this is not justice, this is a waste of a life of a man who has turned himself around.
We have to help Ricky and ultimately thousands like him.
FIX THIS BROKEN SYSTEM.
